What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts that sit within your jawbone and help restore your smile so that you can eat freely, speak clearly, and smile with greater confidence than ever before. They serve as the foundation of support for custom-made crowns, bridges, and dentures, depending on how many teeth you are missing.

The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

  • Consultation: After examining your oral and overall health and your jawbone density, Dr. Jackson will decide if you can proceed with implant surgery or need additional dental treatment to prepare your mouth first.
  • Placement Surgery: Dental implant placement will occur in-house, as Dr. Jackson can perform the entire procedure under one roof. After administering local anesthesia, he will place each implant post into its appropriate location.
  • Healing/Osseointegration: Osseointegration, or the fusing of your implants and jawbone, can take 3-6 months after surgery is finished. Once your implants are secure, you will have your metal abutments placed atop your titanium posts.
  • Final Restoration(s): A crown, bridge, or denture will be attached to your posts to make eating, speaking, and smiling a breeze.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

The benefits of dental implants are unlike any you will achieve with traditional dentures or dental bridges. With these permanent tooth replacements, you can expect:

  • Continuous stimulation of your jawbone lowers the risk of bone loss and loose teeth
  • A stronger bite force that allows you to eat a varied diet or nutritious foods
  • Improved oral health by preventing dental drift and future misalignment
  • Easy maintenance that doesn’t require special products
  • New teeth that can potentially last 30+ years or even a lifetime
