What Happens During a Root Canal?
Dr. Jackson performs root canals in-house, so you do not need to worry about a referral. He’ll begin by providing local anesthesia to numb your tooth and the area around it. If necessary, he can also provide nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation.
Once you are numb and cannot feel any discomfort, he will open the crown of the affected tooth and begin cleaning it out with his specialized handpieces. After removing diseased tissues and the pulp from the pulp chamber, he will sanitize the tooth before filling it with gutta-percha. He will then place a tight seal over the opening, and a custom-made dental crown will be placed on the tooth, which we’ll make right here in our office.
